I found the article and discussion of the Chemistry Graduate student at Harvard U. who committed suicide both disturbing and interesting. Surely Harvard U. must acknowledge that there are pressures, some times enormous pressures placed upon graduate students. The real issue is what support resources does a University provide its students to help them cope with these pressures. We, as University faculty members, do have a responsibility to our students.
