The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

Responses

We have not been quick enough to embrace technology. For every comment regarding the "down side" someone can come up with a comment like this from one of my on-line students: "I like the idea of these Internet courses for several reasons. I think there is less of a tendency to worry about appearance or socialization, and more of a focus on content and clarity. I like the fact that I can work late and stay home with my children. I like the fact that I don't have to drive somewhere and use a lot of paper." Notice there is no hint of age, sex, race, etc., just technology bringing minds together. Perhaps I should have cross-posted this to the "fashion" story as well?
