"Are educators too quick to embrace technology?"

Absolutely not! It's taken too long already.

Today's academia must have enough common sense to see what is happening in education... prior to the involvement of technologies such as computers, etc. Certainly, they can see what is happening in the world around them as a result of failing educational systems. Kids are disinterested in traditional education -- plain and simple. The dropout rate continues to rise as does the number of illiterate members of our society. This leads to mayhem in our society. Why? Because kids don't care about school anymore. They care about going home and playing Nintendo, and Sega Genesis, and matching wits against their Sony PlayStations.

Whether or not anybody likes it -- the fact is technology has always been around (remember the club?) and will continue to develop as long as humans inhabit the earth.

Technology is a tool just like a textbook, filmstrip, slide show, or ditto sheet. Only kids haven't gotten bored with technology. It's time the rest of the resistors got on the boat and started utilizing these tools to help our students remain interested in school so they don't add to the statistics. So they can pay for their own rent, rather than having our taxes pay for their upkeep in the county jails and state prisons.

Perhaps it's time we start caring more about our kids and less about negative commentaries on technological devices.
