The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

Responses

I believe Microsoft puts out a wonderful product; it works well for its area. My only problem with this "love of Microsoft" so many college administrators have is that by deciding to go with Microsoft for word processing, etc., they don't want to stick with other systems that work just as well for what they were intended. Case in point - Macintosh. On our campus, there is such a push to streamline the computer system - make everybody's system the same - that programs like Mass Communication and Graphic Design are suffering because the administration does not want to support Macs. That would mean two kinds of systems and despite the fact that it is what is best for students, it is not what's best for Academic Computing.
