The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

Responses

Our universities are supposed to be places of higher education. Despite what Microsoft would like you to believe, their products have never been known for being technologically advanced or well-suited for industrial computing.

Unfortunately students often take the path of least resistance; in this case this would refer to such inferior products as Visual Basic and Windows NT. While these may be "easy to use" they are definitely NOT replacements for such advanced technologies as C++ and UNIX. Our universities must resist the urge to take the path of least resistance and instead focus on their purpose: providing higher education.
