The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

Responses

My impression of an academic wardrobe was always the tweed jacket with leather covered elbows. After attending college for the last four years -- three undergraduate and one graduate -- I have seen many different "dress codes" usually representative of the department I was studying in.

I personally believe in comfort, a minimum level of neatness -- in other words do not show up in the class room straight from the barnyard -- and in dressing for the occasion: put on a suit and tie if the occasion calls for it.
