The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

Responses

As a refugee from banking now trying to wear out those Dress-for-Success suits in front of business students, I find that my male colleagues can get away with wearing jeans and sweaters; my image, alas, seems to require a skirt, or at least a nice pair of dry-clean only slacks. If we really want students to concentrate on what we say rather than how we look, we should all wear uniforms -- maybe black academic gowns: one size fits all, and you can wear as much (or little) underneath as you want.
