The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY

The question

A special symposium in this week's Chronicle explores the culture wars, a rubric that includes debates over political correctness, multiculturalism, cultural studies, certain trends in teaching and research, and efforts to influence public opinion on those issues. Some see the culture wars as largely ended, while others see them as raging on. Are they over? Did one "side" win? What lessons do the culture wars offer for academe, and for the academic right and left? Comment on those questions, or on any of the arguments in this week's symposium.

For further background, see these Chronicle opinion pieces:

Chronicle subscribers may also browse a special section about the culture wars that contains eight years' worth of articles and opinion pieces.
