
Placing blame is counterproductive. Shaming and blaming are not conducive to learning or our teaching missions at universities. Our American drinking culture is reflected within all of our communities, including our campus communities. Professional staff, faculty, and students are all vital community members. As such, each has a role to play in addressing this issue and each must examine their own behavior, attitudes, and expectations. No one prevention model will work in eradicating alcohol health and impairment problems from our campuses; a rational blend of approaches that meet our students on the individual and group level is needed. Although an often discouraging task, this is an important charge for our campus communities and responsibility must be shouldered by us all.
