I have just read Bill's comments about possible reprisals by newly tenured faculty. It sounds as though Bill may have a chip on his shoulder; he may also have been the subject of such reprisals. There are good people and bad people in all work situations. I do not believe that tenure alters one's basic personality. I will add that if I did not have tenure, I would not be able to participate in this on-line discussion. First Amendment rights would not protect me.
