I tend to agree that the impact of the theory has been overrated. Although the activity of "cleaning up" a neighborhood raises awareness of those living in the neighborhood, I tend to think that other environmental factors have as much, if not more impact on changing criminal activity in a specific area.
It has been my experience that dealing with specific issues through problem-solving is far more successful than a broad based cosmetic sweep for fix building and light fixtures.
