While I am empathetic to the concerns of the protestors, I have yet to see what I would consider overwhelming and even relatively undivided support for a change within the American Indian community.
- I think the University and the fans have been very respectful of the nickname
- I fervently believe the Sioux people have larger issues to contend with
- I applaud the University's efforts to support American Indian culture via programs and classes. I took a class re: American Indian philosophy in the very early 70's that was extremely enlightening.
- The use of the nickname, given UND's ongoing excellence in athletics and the way in which the athletes conduct themselves casts only a positive light on the Sioux people.
