I oppose the use of Native Americans as mascots, and struggle with that issue here at the University of Illinois. I understand what $100 million can do for a campus, but I don't think that you can put a price tag on racism. Is that what the pain of those Native American students is worth to the institution? How about the racial tension on campus? Institutions in America are notorious for perpetuating racism and succumbing to outside corporate forces in the name of money. It's time for someone in power to stand up and say, "It's not worth it."
