The Chronicle of Higher Education: Colloquy

COLLOQUY
THE QUESTION
RESPONSES
BACKGROUND

Being inordinately suspicious of all sources that cross my path, I wonder if the voice of Mr. Englestad has issued forth through Ms. Rude and "The Sicatoka, Alum," whose comments earlier on were so favorable to Mr. Englestad. I certainly hope this is not the case.

The picture which "The Sicatoka, Alum" has drawn of Mr. Englestad is one of a public spirited citizen deeply loyal to the State of North Dakota, his alma mater UND, and to the advancement of character-building sports.

The Standing Rock warriors are the teams of the high school on the Hunkpapa reservation. Would it not be a wonderful gesture for Mr. Englestad to endow the high school, and its teams, and to provide scholarships for graduates, and jobs after college graduation. Indeed, a few million dollars through all the Sioux reservations to such ends would be a great investment in the future.

If Ms. Rude and/or "Sicatoka, Alum" have Mr. Englestad's ear, I hope this suggestion will be passed on. More to the point, I hope it will acted upon.
