Professor Ryan: In an earlier discussion we disputed positions. I suggested there, from the positions your took, and my knowledge of the weak writings on archaeological theory and practice of people in the discipline of philosophy, that academic philosophy was far from being what it should be. It is my custom, when I over-generalize, or am in error in other ways, to try to make amendment. Hence, this, in essence, is a thanks for your participation in the present discussion.
Much earlier I expressed my admiration for the abilities of Professor Moody, who is, like you, also in philosophy. I have gained a good deal from following his arguments. He and I hold quite different positions. You and I are not truly far apart, but are separated somewhat. Your summary statement of the central matters of concern in this discussion, I see as a truly notable contribution, as is your persistence in pushing the matter of strong and weak verification. Hence, you too, have my sincere thanks.
