I think the addition of a coffee bar is a good idea. For some students who never make it to the library, it may provide a more inviting opportunity to get them in the door. Librarians could place materials nearby to promote more scholarly activities. It is about marketing--if whole colleges and universities market themselves, why not their libraries?
