University of South Florida
Shedding New Light on Solar Energy

USF professor Yogi Goswami's insatiable curiosity about how to better harness and use solar power has led him and fellow scientists in the university's College of Engineering toward unique discoveries and innovations.

There's one invention that enabled Goswami to use light to disinfect the air. Then there's the project he and his colleagues are working on that could make a significant difference in the ability to utilize solar energy more efficiently—the creation of a new thermodynamic cycle to produce electric power to both heat and cool air. That effort involves developing an experimental turbine that works at a low temperature cycle and finding the right liquid to absorb the gas coming out of it after energy production.

Goswami, who teaches "Principles of Solar Energy," is an internally recognized expert on energy issues. He has advised world leaders on the subject, spoken at international and national conferences and published extensively.

It seems as if Goswami, himself, has his own boundless supply of his energy.
