University of La Verne

For more than 100 years, the University of La Verne (ULV) has been committed to offering a quality education for its students. With nearly half of its students coming from minority backgrounds, the student population is a diverse one. The university's faculty, staff and students strive to understand and appreciate the diversity of cultures that exists not just locally, but nationally and internationally as well.

With more than 8,000 students, ULV is the largest independent university in the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire region of Southern California. Its academic units include the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Public Management, the College of Education and Organizational Leadership, and the College of Law. The central campus is located approximately 30 miles east of Los Angeles. ULV also has seven regional campuses throughout California and a College of Law campus located in the nearby city of Ontario, California. ULV has been designated as a Doctoral Research Intensive Institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

The core values of the University are reflected in its liberal arts orientation, its emphasis on the small class experience, its close personal support of students, and its diversity. The university fulfills a critical community function by educating students from underserved populations, many of whom are the first generation in their families to obtain university degrees. The U.S. Department of Education has designated ULV as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

The university's special strength is providing graduate programs focused on service in areas such as teacher education, psychology, law, business, and public administration, including health care administration. In addition to educating undergraduate students of traditional age, ULV has historically served a large number of adult students in both undergraduate and graduate programs.

Founded in 1887, the city of La Verne is nestled in the San Gabriel and Pomona valleys. Home to 33,000 people, La Verne enjoys the benefits of being located within the greater metropolitan Los Angeles area while still maintaining a small-town feel. The University of La Verne is an equal employment opportunity employer that is committed to excellence and actively strives for cultural diversity. With 600 regular faculty and staff and another 400 part-time faculty serving the main campus and seven regional campuses, ULV is the employer of choice in La Verne.
