Amity is also India’s first university to offer mobile app for intranet based learning. In order to ensure that interaction does not end with the classroom, Amity University has brought the classroom into the mobile phones of its students. Amity students can access Amizone (the intranet) on their mobile phones.
Features of the application enable students to have easy access to their daily class schedule, time-table, details on the faculty and location of the class. Students can also see their courses and session plans around their subjects and timetable, access their latest attendance status of all subjects, access their exam admit cards and receive their exam results with marks, grades, SGPA and CGPA, check fee invoices and view payment summaries among others. Students can also view live videos of events and lectures, participate in opinion polls and quizzes, be up to speed on the latest and important notices not to mention access thousands of online journals for their studies and research – all from the phone’s interface.
Parents too can now view their ward’s attendance and exam grades, while faculty can mark attendance, almost from anywhere. Inducting this recent technology has helped students to experience Amity’s hi-tech learning environment, not only on campus but even beyond.
Such state-of-the-art learning is possible simply because of Amity’s strong technology backbone. All Amity campuses are interconnected through MPLS enabling the transmission of live classrooms to all locations through eLearning Solution & IP Cameras. High throughput Wi-Fi access points and 90 kms of optical fibre cabling deliver 600Mbps of broadband internet to every part of the Campus. The technology also supports lecture recordings and live transmissions of class lectures & events over intranet and the web.
Libraries at Amity are more like Integrated Knowledge Resource Centres where students can access over 400,000 titles covering all aspects of academics, apart from 17,000 online journals such as Taylor & Francis, Oxford Journals, Cambridge University Press, UGC-Infonet, Nature.com and others.
When it comes to a vibrant student life, Amity Campuses offer the state-of-the-art international flavour such as apartment styled air-conditioned accommodation for over 12,000 students, amenities like multi-cuisine restaurants, cafés, bookstore, departmental stores, ATM, salon etc., which together make for an unparalleled on-campus experience. Amity Campuses are known for their best-in-class sports facilities such as Olympic size pools, shooting ranges, squash & tennis courts, basketball and football grounds and in some cases, even a horse-riding academy.
With a strong technology backbone Amity offers a hi-tech campus environment wherein students are provided with smart card access and biometric identification. Students carry a chip enabled smart card which not only allows access into the Campus, but can also be used as an e-wallet in the cafeteria, book shop etc.
