  • Building Bright Futures

Which comes first? Does a community strive to recruit business, or do community leaders develop a workforce educated to fill the jobs that those businesses will demand?

  • Information Quality Establishes Value

Right from the start, Acxiom Corporation saw the value in financially supporting the new Information Quality program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. As the world leader in data management, Acxiom had executives who recognized that developing a graduate program in Information Quality just a few miles away from its global headquarters in Little Rock would provide outstanding professional development opportunities for its employees in the data quality field and also help build a skilled local workforce from which they could hire later.

  • Childhood Fascination Leads UALR Scientist to Field Research

Steve Yanoviak loved to climb trees and collect insects, growing up in the Pennsylvania suburbs. He’s still doing it, but now the trees are majestic giants forming the canopy of tropical rainforests in Costa Rica, Panama, and Peru. And the insects he collects may hold the key to winged flight.

  • Community Outreach: Children International

Celebrating 15 years, Children International at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has worked with parents and partners to provide over 15,516 children in the Little Rock Public Schools with educational enrichment, health care, and family assistance. UALR is Children International’s only U.S. domestic location.

  • Small Things Make a Big Difference

Dr. Alex Biris is working on “the next big thing” in the UALR Nanotechnology Center – along with scientists who are a part of an extended research network. But while his next discovery may actually be very, very tiny, chances are it will open up a large new set of doors for science, innovation, and economic development in central Arkansas.

  • Dancers Discover New Limelight in Little Rock

Calvin Chester chose UALR because of the dance program. “I love going to the theatre to see shows and tour backstage and be a part of the behind scenes. I actually landed a gig as an original cast member of the newest theatre coming to central Arkansas, the Argenta Community Theatre.” The first degree program of its kind in Arkansas, the B.F.A. in Dance Performance offers unique opportunities for students in the cultural capital of the state.
