  • A View From COP15 in Copenhagen

    Chapman's team of scholars, which blogged live in December 2009 from the UN Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, Denmark, was among the thousands of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) attending the contentious confab, along with delegates from 192 nations. The team continues to post on the blog as plans fall into place for Chapman's own international climate-change conference, "Beyond Copenhagen," from April 21-23, 2010. Click here to read the blog.

  • Professor Speaks in South Korea

    Hesham El-Askary, Ph.D., assistant professor of Earth System Science and Remote Sensing Department of Physics, Computational Science and Engineering Schmid College of Science, was invited to speak at two events  hosted at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea, on Jan. 12-14 and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Dr. El-Askary gave a lecture on “Remote Sensing and Related Atmospheric Applications” at the International Winter School.  He also gave a talk titled “Impact of Sea Level Rise on the Low Land Area South East of Alexandria, Egypt” as an invited speaker at the International Joint Seminar on Climate/Environment Change.

  • University Will Host Southern Calif. Transit Forum

    Chapman University will host the Southern California Transit Forum, which  brings together federal, state and local mass transit officials and legislative leaders to discuss the crisis in mass transit funding.  The conference, Feb. 5 (Friday), will be hosted by the Chapman University School of Law’s Center for Global Trade & Development and sponsored by the Orange County Business Forum and the Orange County Transportation Authority.  Proceedings will take place in Marion Knott Studio’s  Folino Theater.
