A dispute between two Internet service providers may interfere with the operations of the Internet, including e-mail and colleges’ Web sites. Level 3 Communications stopped exchanging Internet traffic between its Internet backbone and a backbone operated by Cogent Communications Group. The lack of a connection between the two may force Internet traffic to find alternative routes.  (The Boston Globe)
