Academe and Wikipedia—the online encyclopedia that anyone can edit—are growing closer. The Wikimedia Foundation, which operates Wikipedia, announced Tuesday that Kul Takanao Wadhwa, formerly manager of partnerships and new business at Stanford University, will join the Wikimedia Foundation as head of business development.
A news release from the foundation states that Mr. Wadhwa will oversee the development of “new business and revenue-generating collaborations that support” the foundation’s mission.
Just last week the Wikimedia Foundation announced plans to pair up with an academic research center to conduct a survey of Wikipedia contributors and readers. —Andrea L. Foster
