Since 1987, Northwest Missouri State University has helped pay to put desktop computers in the dorm rooms of its incoming students, billing itself as the nation’s first "electronic campus." But this year, the university’s freshman class is getting a bit of an upgrade: They’ll receive laptops instead of the traditional machines.
