A technology official at Ohio University says he’s unfairly taking the fall for a series of hacking incidents that exposed personal information about hundreds of thousands of students, alumni, and faculty and staff members.
Thomas Reid, director of communications-network services, was suspended along with Todd Acheson, manager of Internet and systems, at the recommendation of an independent auditor.
But Mr. Reid told the Associated Press that none of the servers that were hacked (a total of five since March 2005) were under his watch. He added that the auditor who interviewed him gave no indication that he would be suspended. “It was the furthest thing from my mind,” said Mr. Reid. —Brock Read
