Supercomputing Crisis?

Some researchers say both academe and industry will suffer if the National Science Foundation does not increase its support for supercomputing.

"Supercomputers are time machines," says William A. Wulf, president of the National Academy of Engineering and a former NSF official. "What you’ve bought when you’ve bought a supercomputer is being able to do something sooner rather than later." (The Chronicle, subscription required)
