In a campus competition held this week, engineering students at Ohio State University got a chance to find out whether they could design robots that would stand a chance on Mars. A total of 64 teams, each with three or four students, were asked to create robots that could leave a central base, pick up some marbles representing Martian rocks, and return to the base to recharge.
The winning robot overcame adversity on the way to victory: It had broken down the night before the competition. (The Lantern)
