Security Breach at Duke U.

June 9, 2005, 1:57 pm

Officials of the Duke University Medical Center have announced that a security breach in late May allowed a hacker to access "fragments" of the Social Security numbers of more than 9,000 alumni and employees. The officials say there’s no evidence that any of the stolen information has been used, but they temporarily shut down their computer network after discovering that the intruder had also gained access to the passwords of 5,500 users.
