Ruckus, a legal music- and movie-download service that has catered to colleges on a campus-by-campus basis, will open its song library up to college students across the country, company officials will announce today.
By inviting all students to sign up, Ruckus is completing its transition from an “opt-in” business model — in which the company charged colleges and students to use its services — to a newer plan in which the company makes money through advertising revenue.
