RIAA Sends More ‘Prelitigation’ Letters

May 2, 2007, 3:21 pm

The Recording Industry Association of America has fired off its fourth monthly batch of prelitigation settlement messges, asking this time that the notices be passed along to 402 song-swapping suspects at 13 universities. As in previous months, the notices direct students to a Web site and a telephone hotline through which they can settle copyright-infringement claims out of court.

The institutions receiving this month's letters are Brandeis, Duke, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Syracuse, and Tufts Universities; the Universities of Georgia, Iowa, Southern California, South Florida, and Tennessee; the University of Texas at Austin; and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. –Brock Read
