Regent U. Hires Firm to Push Online Program

July 24, 2007, 1:14 pm

Regent University, a Christian institution in Virginia, has hired 5W Public Relations to promote its online programs, according to a statement released last week by the New York City-based public-relations company.

A spokesman for the university said in an e-mail message today, however, that Regent hired the company to promote “national and international exposure for all of our faculty and programs—not just our online programs.”

Regent, which was founded by televangelist Pat Robertson, is well known for helping many of its graduates secure jobs in the Bush administration. The former U.S. attorney general under President George W. Bush, John Ashcroft, is a professor of government at Regent. The university had its bond rating downgraded a year ago, the most recent rating, from A to A-, by Standard & Poor’s.—Andrea L. Foster
