Raids Shut Down a Site for File Swappers

BitTorrent, the popular peer-to-peer network, is trying to prove it’s more than just a conduit for pirated videos, but that could be an uphill battle now. On Wednesday federal agents carried out raids in nine states on people alleged to be administrators or heavy users of Elitetorrents.org, a Web site that helped BitTorrent users locate downloadable files. The Elitetorrents site has now been replaced by a stern warning from the FBI. (Wired News)
