Kno, which makes digital-textbook software, announced new features on Wednesday that will allow students to keep a running journal of their favorite textbook content and create custom quizzes from learning material. Students will also be able to access Kno textbooks directly through Facebook. In April, Kno abandoned its plans to build a tablet designed specifically for students and is now competing with CourseSmart, Inkling, and others to sell digital textbooks. Audrey Watters of Hack Education said the company’s latest announcement shows that Kno is a worthy competitor.
