Questions for Network Managers

A group of information-technology specialists who supervise, study, and monitor college residential networks has released findings from a nationwide survey examining how the networks are used and maintained. At many of the networks, the survey found, security is a big concern. (The Chronicle, subscription required)

I’d suggest penn – a problem that gets bigger everytime you look at it – as in “we’re going to have to penn this down quick”

My suggestion for next year (2012): Born digital: materials that originate in a digital form. This is in contrast to digital reformatting, through which print materials become digital.

A while back, Ben Yagoda noted the use of “So” to begin sentences. How about the swift transformation of “so” from fresh to cliched, as in “That’s so twentieth century” to “That’s so twelve seconds ago” in that commercial. “That’s so . . .” has become so lame.
