Five college tech executives and one scholarly-society official made this year’s Computerworld list of “Premier 100 IT Leaders.” They are:
Kathy J. Claypatch, director of online IT operations for University of Phoenix Online
Lev S. Gonick, vice president for information technology services and CIO of Case Western Reserve University
Earl R. Monsour, director of strategic information technologies for Maricopa Community College District.
Mark A. Resmer, chief technology officer of Whitney University and formerly corporate chief technology officer for eCollege.
Sheri Stahler, associate vice president of academic computer services for Temple University
John Sullivan, chief information officer of the American Chemical Society
In a spotlight article, the magazine’s editors noted that Mr. Gonick made the cut for helping build the OneCleveland network, which provides high-speed Internet service to educational, non-profit, and government facilities near the university. When asked how he leads his staff members, he replied: “In a large and decentralized organization such as Case, I see my leadership responsibilities largely framed in terms of coordinating the autonomy of each of the key business units. Understanding customer needs and mobilizing my team to deliver value is also a key part of my mission.” (Computerworld)
