Oxford’s $100-Million Gift

The computing pioneer James Martin has donated $100-million to his alma mater, the University of Oxford, to finance a new school that will examine the problems and opportunities of the 21st century. Its institutes will study such issues as the AIDS epidemic, wealth inequalities, and the effects of rapid technological change. (The Chronicle, subscription required)
