The University of New Orleans’s campus is closed due to Hurricane Katrina, but officials are working to expand their virtual campus so at least some students can continue their studies. "The number of online courses offered this semester will be significantly greater than in past semesters," said Scott L. Whittenburg, associate vice chancellor for assessment and institutional effectiveness, in an e-mail interview today. "We understand that most of our faculty and students have evacuated to sites around the nation (and world), but the vast majority have Internet access and are interested in maintaining the academic programs at UNO."
