Hoping to attract some unusually tech-savvy attendees, a student at
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology held a convention this month
for time travelers.
The student, Amal Dorai, a computer-science graduate student at MIT,
sent invitations via the Internet, urging people to publicize the event
in ways that might last long enough to be discovered by people in the
future who can roll back time to show up. He suggested tucking the
invites in obscure books on acid-free paper so they could survive
thousands of years into the future. The invitations even included the
longitude and latitude of the East Campus Courtyard (42:21:36.025
degrees N, 71:05:16.332 degrees W), in case MIT goes out of business at
a later date. (The Chronicle, subscription requred)
