New File-Swapping Software Attracts Scrutiny

The entertainment industry may be taking issue with yet another file-swapping program: This time it’s Grouper, a system that lets people create their own peer-to-peer networks of 30 or fewer people. Grouper doesn’t let its users download MP3s or search for files on other people’s private networks, but some industry lawyers say they still consider the software a potential tool for music and movie pirates.
