One of the Internet’s best-known havens for file swappers has been forced to close its doors.
A Dallas federal-court judge has ordered LokiTorrent—a clearinghouse for links to pirated movies, songs, and software—to shut down and hand its user logs over to movie-industry lawyers. The file-sharing hub’s Web site now features a stern message to would-be pirates: "You can click but you can’t hide."
The ruling could be terrible news for campus network users who have visited LokiTorrent: The site’s user logs way well provide movie studios with grist for future lawsuits.
