Microsoft’s Academic Expat

Business Week has profiled Rick Rashid, a former computer-science professor at Carnegie Mellon University who is the senior vice president of research at the Microsoft Corporation. Mr. Rashid, who came to the company in 1991, is pushing Microsoft’s research division to make advances in areas like speech recognition and computer-network congestion. "Research has no schedule," he says. (Business Week)
