Educause and Internet2 are applauding a Senate bill introduced on Friday that would prohibit broadband carriers from favoring certain Internet content with speedier delivery to people’s computers.
The Internet Freedom Preservation Act, which promotes the idea of network neutrality, comes one day after some members of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced similar legislation, HR 5417. That bill is scheduled for a discussion and vote on Thursday by the Judiciary Committee, which is mired in a turf war with the Committee on Energy and Commerce about jurisdiction over network-neutrality legislation.
