In New Zealand, Women Make Strides in IT

About 52 percent of the people enrolled in computing courses in New Zealand last year were women, according to a government study. It’s the first time that women have accounted for more than half of the nation’s IT students, but the statistic comes with an asterisk: While many women took certification courses at New Zealand’s polytechnic institutions, only 38 percent of students who studied computing at universities were women.
