University scientists have been able to successfully use a microchip that interacted with a monkey’s brain to aid the primate’s motor skills. Such a breakthrough could one day help humans with movement disorders, according to LiveScience.

The research, conducted by the University of Washington, involved placing a device called a Neurochip on a monkey’s head. The chip interacted with the brain’s motor cortex, which directs the body’s movements. Humans with brain disorders that affect movement may be able to use such chips to improve their motor skills. –Dan Carnevale
