IT security is the most pressing concern of college-computing administrators, according to a new survey conducted by Educause, the higher-education technology group. The group sent the survey to all 1,708 of its primary members in December, and 628 responded. IT financing, which had topped the list the three previous years, was the second-most-pressing concern this year. Also high on the list, and moving up in importance since last year, is disaster recovery, which ranked fourth this year and was not even in the top 10 the previous year. That’s further evidence that last year’s devastating hurricanes brought serious attention to the issue of preparing for catastrophe.
