Hooking Into a Fiber-Optic Network

National LambdaRail has completed its 15,000-mile, fiber-optic computer network that connects researchers at major universities across the country, it announced on Monday. Merger talks are continuing with Internet2, a consortium that built a similar network to serve many smaller universities. (The Chronicle, subscription required)
