Hacking Trial Nears Conclusion

June 8, 2005, 3:40 pm

The federal trial of a former University of Texas at Austin student accused of hacking into his university’s computer network began this week, and prosecutors expect to wrap up their case within a day.

The former student, Christopher Andrew Phillips, faces four counts of intent to defraud for allegedly creating a computer program that hacked into campus servers and weeded out the Social Security numbers of almost 45,000 students and employees. (The Daily Texan)
