Hackers Hit Northwestern U.

July 19, 2006, 1:13 pm

Officials at Northwestern University are working to notify some 17,000 students and applicants about a computer-security breach that may have exposed their personal information, reports the Associated Press. According to university officials, hackers gained access to nine campus computers in May by taking advantage of software that allows members of Northwestern’s technical-support staff to log on to the machines remotely. —Brock Read
