When the giants of the tech world — companies like Google and Microsoft — set off abroad in search of young programming talent, their first stops are usually up-and-coming IT factories like China and India. But Google’s latest attempt to recruit new employees will take place in one of Europe’s high-tech hot spots: Dublin.
The company will host its first European Code Jam in the Irish capital next month. The Code Jam — a test of programming skills geared toward college students — has already run several times in the United States and Asia. The winner of the competition will receive more than $3,000, and Google will get a chance to persuade some promising computer engineers to consider a career in Silicon Valley. (CNET News)
