Get Accredited or Get Out

Wyoming lawmakers are considering giving private, online colleges a three-year time limit to become candidates for accreditation or else face getting shut down. The state, officials say, has a reputation of coddling online diploma mills. They set up shop there, apply for accreditation, and then don’t follow through. Now Wyoming, like other states, is trying to close loopholes that allow the online organizations to thrive. (Associated Press)
